15th March 2026 - Events
Venice is not only the guardian of an extraordinary past, but also a living space where contemporary art finds a voice to tell the present. Until 15 March 2026, the Procuratie in Piazza San Marco host Dreams in Transit, an artistic and cultural project that tackles one of the most profound issues of our time: migration, told through personal stories, powerful images, and visual languages capable of generating empathy.
The event is part of The Home of The Human Safety Net, a place dedicated to reflection on human beings, vulnerability, and the possibilities of building a shared future. Dreams in Transit is not a simple exhibition, but a path that invites visitors to stop, observe, and listen.
One of the most striking elements of the project is the large visual installation on the façade of the Procuratie, transforming one of Venice’s most iconic places into a space for collective reflection. The portraits show people photographed from behind—figures on the move who seem to be walking toward an unknown horizon.
This visual choice is rich in meaning: it does not show faces, but stories; it does not impose identities, but invites recognition. The act of walking becomes a metaphor for passage, hope, and the search for a new possibility. In this way, Venice becomes not only a setting, but an active part of a universal narrative.
Within the exhibition spaces, Dreams in Transit unfolds as an intimate and immersive journey. The works use different languages—photography, video, installations—to tell the migratory experience through emotions, fragments of life, and suspended dreams.
Visitors are guided on a journey that does not merely depict physical movement from one place to another, but explores what happens inside those who leave: separation, fear, the desire to start again, and the strength to imagine a different future. Art thus becomes a tool for listening and understanding, capable of restoring dignity to stories that are often invisible.
Dreams in Transit was created with the aim of giving space to those in transit, to those living in a state of suspension between past and future. The project invites us to move beyond labels and to see migration as an integral part of the human condition—an experience that is about movement, but above all about change.
The exhibition does not offer simple answers; it opens questions. It asks visitors to reflect on the concept of home, belonging, and community. In an increasingly interconnected world, Dreams in Transit becomes an invitation to recognize the other as part of a shared story.
Visiting Dreams in Transit means discovering a different Venice: contemporary, capable of speaking to the present without losing its depth. It is an experience that enriches a stay in the city, offering a new perspective on universal themes through the language of art.
The exhibition fits perfectly into a cultural itinerary that goes beyond traditional routes, ideal for those who want to experience Venice with greater awareness and sensitivity. A moment of reflection that dialogues with the beauty of the city and expands its meaning.
