The Vogalonga of Venice is more than just a rowing event—it's a tribute to tradition and a gesture of love for the lagoon city. Born in 1974 as a protest against the damaging waves caused by motorboats, today it’s a much-awaited celebration that gathers thousands of enthusiasts from all over the world.
On June 8, 2025, more than 8,000 rowers aboard some 2,000 boats will take on a spectacular 30-kilometre course across the most scenic parts of the lagoon: starting from the Basin of St. Mark, passing by the islands of Burano, Murano, and Sant’Erasmo, and returning to the historic heart of Venice.
The Vogalonga is a non-competitive event, open to all, that encourages rowing and supports the preservation of the lagoon’s delicate ecosystem. It’s the perfect opportunity to reconnect with a more authentic Venice, far from traditional tourist routes.
To make the most of this magical day, stay at Relais Il Doge. Located in the heart of Venice, our historic residences offer a refined and peaceful setting—ideal for relaxing after a day of wonder on the water.
