On the occasion of the Venice Glass Week, the Venice Academy Galleries will host the exhibition "Convito di Vetro", from September 14 to November 3, 2024. Created by director Giulio Manieri Elia and curated by art historian Sung Moon Cho, this exhibition celebrates the excellence of Murano glass.
The exhibition takes place in front of the Renaissance masterpiece "Convito in casa di Levi" by Paolo Veronese and features over 200 glass artifacts designed by 27 artists over the course of a century. The displayed items include goblets, decanters, candlesticks, and bowls, illustrating the evolution of Murano table glass from the 20th century to the present day.
"Convito di Vetro" offers a unique experience, bringing together the Venetian artistic heritage with glass art. The exhibition reflects on the artisanal and industrial tradition of Venice, providing an in-depth view of the history and craftsmanship of Murano glass in a context rich with historical and artistic influences.
